Tweede update! Second update!

Zondag, 5e dag met onze mannen en de vermoeidheid slaat toe, ze kunnen superlief zijn maar ook behoorlijk stout, en als we er hard tegen optreden dan krijgen we van die onmogelijke pruillipjes, dat je er verschikkelijk om moet lachen. Vooral Sayon. Dingen die gesneuveld zijn: alle speelgoed die we meegenomen hadden, een dekseltje van een porseleine potje, maar vooral de glazen tafel in ons huisje. Daar ging Jefrey op zitten. Schrikken alom, eerst huilen en dan het gebruikelijke lipje. En dat terwijl wij hem eerst getroost hadden. Gelukkig comuniceer ik heel goed met hen in het spaans. Dat is niet altijd makkelijk voor Rut.

Overigens heeft Jefrey al zelf bevestigd dat hij geen 5 maar 6 is! De terug reis wordt dus over Costa Rica voor het ophalen van de documenten bij de ambasade. We gaan er voor zorgen dat de juiste leeftijd in zijn documenten vermeld wordt. Hopelijk komen we nog voor zijn 7e verjaardag terug die op 22 januari is. Overigens kent hij het alphabet vrij goed en kan hij al letters en cijvers en telt tot 10 in het engels. En wat het meeste opvalt is zijn zelfstandigheid en hoe hij over zijn broertje vadert. Het is ongelooflijk hoe hij dat doet. Na de eerste paar keer dat hij geholpen heeft met Sayon heb ik gezegd dat hij dat toch aan ons over moet laten, dat we het echt voor elkaar krijgen.

Vandaag (dag 6) hadden we weer kleine gevechtjes. Te beginnen met Sayon die niet wou douchen en een tantrum opzette en met alle kleding ging gooien. Uiteindelijk resulteerde het in een schreeuwende mama (ja ik schaam me dood!) een weggelopen kind die door papa in de gaten werd gehouden. Toen ik hem wilde ophalen om ook sorry te zeggen rende die weg en glee uit in een plas. (Dit gebeurde allemaal buiten in de Rancho waar we zitten.) Heel hard huilen dus. Daarna onder de douche en heel veel kusjes geven, wij allebei.

We zijn nu dag 8, we kwamen er achter dat de moddermarkt waar we naartoe waren geweest, eigenlijk niet de juiste markt was, we hadden naar het centrum van Masaya gemoeten. Ondertussen hebben we de volgende uitstapjes gedaan: Naar las galerias een winkelcentrum type amerikaanse “mall” waar een gewoon italiaans ijsje gelijk 3 a 4 dollar kost. Voor onze jongens was het een groot feest en het begon al alleen op de rol trap, die hadden ze nog nooit gezien, laat staan erop gestaan. Dus moest er voorzichtig gekeken worden daarna gingen we erop. Boven gekomen waren er allemaal van die wiebel toestelletjes waar je een muntje in moet gooien. Allebei erin natuurlijk. En dan met de tuk-tuk (een brommer taxi) heen en weer. Helemaal te gek! We hebben ook schoentjes met lampjes voor ze gekocht. Bij iedere stap die Sayon deed moesten we stoppen om even naar die lampjes te kijken. Erg grappig!

We zijn nu weer dag 10, en 50 tantrums verder, het is soms vermoeiend maar ik denk dat het langzaam moet gaan verbeteren. Ze weten wie de baas is in ieder geval. Andere uitstapjes zijn er, bijvoorbeeld naar de touristen markt in Masaya, waar we lettertjes voor hun naam hebben gekocht en twee kleine gitaartjes zodat ze met Rut kunnen oefenen, naar de dokter in jinotepe die ons een berg medicijnen voorschreef voor Jefrey voor een simpel hoestje (Ik moet eerlijk zeggen dat het over is nu. Maar hoeveel medicijnen wil je uberhaupt in een 6 jarige gieten???), naar de dierentuin. Het nederlands leren schiet helaas niet zo op omdat ik natuurlijk in het spaans met hun communiceer. Sterker nog, als ik iets niet goed uitspreek volgens Jefrey, gaat hij het langzaam in korte lettergrepen voorzeggen en dan raakt hij zelf in de war met die lettergrepen. Verder vermaken we ons uitstekend in het zwembad. Wij proberen af te wisselen, een dag rust een dag iets doen. Vandaag was het dierentuin. De attentie span van Jefrey is helaas niet zo groot dus waren we er binnen anderhalf uur alweer uit. Het is ook te warm om iets te doen. Dus maar weer in het zwembad hier. Grappig detail vandaag dat we twee half nederlandse meisjes waren tegengekomen in de dierentuin met hun Nicaraguaanse moeder, die gaan we dus weer ontmoeten bij Juf Marloes als we Jefrey naar de Nederlandse school gaan brengen. Die heeft hier een nederlands schooltje opgericht. En Jefrey is echt toe aan School.

Sunday, 5th day with our boys and we are getting signs of fatigue, they can be very sweet but also very bad boys and when we try to be firm with them, you get this little angry face (mainly from Sayon) that makes us laugh out loud. Things that are broken: All the toys we had brought them, a small lid from a porcelain pot, but the biggest one was the glass plate that was making the coffee table in our cabin. Jefrey sat down on it and there it went! Obviously that was a big scare! And while we were trying to comfort him he got mad. I guess with children it’s also an act of self-defense to get mad. It’s good that I can speak Spanish with them, this is not always easy for Rut. Jefrey has confirmed his age is 6 not 5. This means that we have to go back through Costa Rica to get the needed documents at the embassy. We want to take care that the correct age is mentioned in the certificates. We hope to celebrate his 7th birthday which is the 22nd of January at home in the Netherlands. He has already shown that he knows the alphabet and that he understands letters and numbers. He can count to 10 in English. That what is also clear is that he is very independent and he takes care of his little brother as a daddy would do. It is really incredible how he is capable doing this after he helped out with Sayon the first couple of times I told him that Sayon will have to get used to us and that he can let go and he gave us all the space to do so.
Today, day 6 we had small little fights. We started with Sayon who would not shower and put up a tantrum and started to remove all his clothes and Jefreys from the shelf. In the end it resulted in a yelling Mom (Yes I am ashamed) and a child who ran away. I am happy that Rut was able to watch him. When I wanted to go and get him to say sorry, he tried to run away and slipped in a poodle (we were all outside). Obviously that was a big drama. After that we could bade him and we gave each other a lot of kisses.
We are now on day 8, we found out that the mud market we have visited was not the right market to be, we should have gone to Masaya city Centre. At this moment we have visited the following: Las Galerias , American “mall” where a simple ice-cream is about 3 or 4 dollars. For our boys this was a great party, which started already on the escalator, which they had never seen before or even tried out. So we check it out for a while and then went on it. Once upstairs, there were all these moving toys (the supermarket ones) where you have to put a coin, both wanted a ride of course. We did all these trips with a tuk-tuk (a motorcycle with seat in the back that is being used as a cab.) They loved it all! We bought them some shoes with lights. Every step Sayon was taking, we had to stop to look at the lights in his shoes, so funny!
We are now on day 10 and 50 tantrums away, it’s sometimes tire full but I think this will slowly improve. They know who is the boss. We are doing small outings, like the tourist market in Masaya where we bought some letters to compose their names, and two little guitars so they can practice with Rut. We went to the doctor in jinotepe who was very friendly but gave us a big prescription of all kind of medicines to get rid of a simple cough that Jefrey had. (To be brutally honest, it worked! But how much medicine you want to give a small 6 year old????) We went to the zoo. Learning dutch is a bit slow for them because my Spanish is so good that we can communicate in their own language. Even better, if my pronunciation is not correct according to Jefrey, he will almost spell it out for me and then get all confused himself. In the long run we are enjoying ourselves in the little pool the people here set up for us. I am trying to switch from one day rest day and one day a little adventure. Today it was Zoo, but the attention of Jefrey is very short so we were done in one hour and a half. To be honest, it’s too hot to do anything, so back to the little pool here on the Rancho where we are staying. A funny detail is that today at the zoo we met two half Dutch girls with their Nicaraguan mother, we will meet them again once we will meet “juf Marloes” when we get Jefrey to go to the dutch school here in Managua. This lady has set up a Dutch school here and Jefrey really needs school at the moment.
